Question by Jay: Easiest way to improve your Snooker technique?
I have been playing a while but still lack technique. My safety play is generally fine but I can’t seem to be able to pot consistently. What steps can I take to improving my cue action or potting ability? Exlcuding the obvious amount of practise I need.

  1. drills drills and more drills. As you play more and more you will find difficulty in the same shots. U need to either devise your own drill or look some up on the internet. Almost all shots repetively come up in the game and only dedicated and focused practive will resolve these. You will only get out of this game what you are willing to put it. If you are in it for the long haul, practice like every shot is your last.

Well, its something you need to practise a lot, in snooker the more you practise the better you will get, but here’s a few things you should always remember as they are very important:
    1) always keep your bridge hand correctly positioned, Your fingers should be laying flat on the table and your thumb elevated by about 2 cm where you run your cue through
2)Keep your head lowered against the cue so you can aim better and to be able to see the path of the cue ball.
3)always keep your cue straight so that the cue ball doesn’t drift off.

Practise a lot and you ll start getting better, but it’ll take a long time until you start to play well it will probably take you months, but that little more practise the better you will get hope i helped.

practice is fine, but if your practicing wrong, or your stroke is bad, what good is it to practice. i love these guys who say they been playing for 20 yrs, and you watch them play and there terrible. i would get a couple lessons, cost $ 200. then PRACTICE. gl.

  4. Obviously practice…

That being said, try shooting with an easier stroke. Grip the cue loosely and shoot as soft as you can while still getting your position. If you do this, and say, hit the rail in front of the corner pocket, the object ball is going to bounce off the rail, but the forward momentum is going to be greater than the angular force from the rail. This means that the object ball is going to roll farther forward after hitting the rail, and you will still pocket the ball. This has the most effect when the angle of the object ball contacting the rail is thinner. Taking this into account will allow you to miss by a little bit in one direction and still make the pocket. Keep this in mind the next time you play, but mostly practice.

  5. keep practising
