I need to move a snooker table, it;s about an hour drive. I;ve been told I need to get a cube van with a tailgate lift. I’m thinking a regular van would be fine. How heavy would the slates be ? I’m told they are over 1 inch thick.

I moved a 4-1/2′ x 9′ table 1500 miles. The slate was in 3 pieces and it was 1″ thick. Each slab weighed about 250lbs. I took a standard wooden pallet and laid it flat on the floor of the trailer, then I wrapped 1 piece of slate with a sleeping bag and placed it on top of the pallet. I kept doing this until I had a sandwich of 3 pieces of slate, 3 sleeping bags, and 4 wooden pallets. Then I strapped the whole thing tightly together and tied it to the side of the trailer. It may have been overkill, but if one piece of slate broke my table would have been ruined. Luckily, I made it ok. Good luck!
